This remodel / addition focused on creating a more enjoyable living space in a cape cod style home which sits on a peaceful street on the Meadowbrook golf course. The kitchen, mudroom, laundry room, and patio, were made into larger, more functional spaces for the growing family.
The interior space was reconfigured to make a much more ‘usable’ space. The garage and the house were connected by a mudroom, making the total living space larger and providing a breezeway in and out of the house.
The back patio was incorporated into the flow of the house by creating new entry points to the patio from the house.
High-quality and unique finishes were used on this project. The flooring selections, for instance, are examples of materials that are both durable and beautiful. A blanket of New York Bluestone covers the floors of the mudroom and patio. Making a consistent for of flooring from indoors to outdoors. Bluestone is a deep-blue-colored sandstone, which is produced in hundreds of small quarries in Pennsylvania and New York. Bluestone was formed from sand-size grains deposited in the Catskills 350 million years ago. Bluestone is a versatile stone, which is incredibly durable indoors and out.
The flooring in the kitchen is Cumaru. Cumaru is a Brazilian Teak. It is quite strong and dense, and ages gracefully. It has a rich, stunning appearance, and because of its durability it can also be used in exterior applications such as decks.
The kitchen is appointed with marble countertops, a farmhouse sink, coffered ceilings, a beverage fridge, wine storage, and plenty of storage for china, small appliances, and kitchen supplies. The mudroom and laundry room have an abundance of storage consisting of hooks, drawers, and shelves.
With the focus on utility and design, this home provides a comfortable, durable, beautiful place to live.
